COVID-19 Response and Protocols

Updated January 13, 2022

Please screen your student daily using this online screening tool.  If it says "go to school", then please complete our Google Form so that we can easily track your response.

Click here for guidance pertaining to "What to do if you have been exposed to someone with COVID-19".

STAFF SCREENING AND SELF-ASSESSMENT

  • All staff members do a daily screening which includes taking and recording their temperatures and screening for symptoms

TESTING AND CONTACT-TRACING

From Ministry of Ontario guidance: "Public health units will no longer be dismissing cohorts. Any dismissals or closures of a school or child care will be contingent on operational requirements determined by the school board, school and/or child care operator. Given the widespread transmission and inability to test all symptomatic individuals, schools will not be routinely notifying students/pupils in classes with a positive case, or if a child/student or staff is absent due to symptoms associated with COVID-19."

PHYSICAL HEALTH

  • Modifying behaviours that reduce the spread, including increased hand washing and respiratory etiquette, as well as use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Maintaining healthy environments, including frequent environmental cleaning and cohorting our students

CLEANING PROTOCOLS

  • We use hydrogen- peroxide based cleaning agents
  • Ample hand sanitizer available
  • Increased sanitization of washrooms
  • Increased sanitization in the classrooms
  • HEPA air purifiers are in each of the classrooms, the foyer and the resource room

COMMUNICATION TO PARENTS

  • Prioritizing digital communications, such as fact sheets explaining new protocols and links to helpful information, as well as detailed instructions regarding screening and pick‑up/drop‑off procedures and protocols if a child or staff person becomes ill
  • Providing information for students related to hand hygiene, and resources to support learning and well‑being at home
